A historic rainfall event on April 12 brought 25 inches of rain in less than 24 hours to the Fort Lauderdale area, resulting in much flooding. We were safe and no damage to our home, but the water came into our garage all the way to the back door of our house.
Two days later, the rain had stopped, flooding had gone down, and forecast looked clear for the rest of day, so Mommy drove Abigail to MCB for dance. Just as we arrived, Daddy called to say that it had started pouring and the street was completely flooded again (there was nowhere for water to drain/run off too because of the earlier rain). That night we were not able to get home because of the flooded roads through our neighborhood! We stayed at a local hotel for the night and then returned safely home the next day!
(by end of year, Fort Lauderdale was named the "Wettest City" in the nation with over 100 inches of rain for 2023!)
