August dates

Abigail's date this month was to plan for and make a meal with Mommy!  

Abigail loves to help in the kitchen so she was very excited about this date!  

She picked the meal (dinner) and the menu (her favorites)--

she immediately said she wanted to make a "vanilla with cookies and cream cake" 

(which we've never had before but she was sure would be yummy!). 

We went to the store for 
some ingredients.

(which she also loves helping with!) 
while everything was in the oven


While we were fixing dinner 
(Daddy had taken Corban and Hadassah out),  Abigail said.  "I think they are going to get flowers for us to have on the table."  They came home with sunflowers!

Abigail is a great cook, we had so much fun together and a delicious family dinner!

Corban picked a Daddy date to do an archery class together!
The guys had to wait until November to schedule this date, but they had a great time at
Palm Beach Archery! 
The bow was bigger than Corban and the last arrow he shot was called "saving the world"!

USA

With the Exploring Countries and Cultures curriculum 

we will spend 2 weeks studying different countries this year.  

During that time Corban's geography and history are focused on that country, 

we do arts and crafts, listen to music, read lots of books about, watch videos of that country, and then finish with having a meal (or at least making one food item) from that part of the world!  

We started with the

We had an all-American meal of cheeseburgers and fries, lemonade, 
fruit, salad and pumpkin bread for dessert!

in science he studied forests for the 2 weeks

A good Book

Corban has grown to really love reading!  

 

He has discovered the Magic Treehouse series 

(chapter books about a brother and sister with a magical treehouse that takes them to a different time and place for each book), 

he loves them and will read a couple books a day!

Abigail enjoys reading BOB books to me,

and Hadassah likes looking at books and being read to!

(GREAT) Kid's Day

Saturday morning, Corban declared it "Kid's Day"!  
The girls quickly agreed 
and they made a list of all the things they wanted to do for the day!

 we went to the beach

 and the playground

they each wanted one of Mommy's shirts to wear for nap/rest time

(they didn't really stay up all night, but did get to stay up late watching a movie!)
