Visit

Grandmother and Grandpa came for a visit last weekend!

Date Jar

Chris and I gave Corban and Abigail a date jar last month.
It is filled with 12 folded blue slips of paper and 12 pink slips
(6 of each for a Mommy date and 6 of each for a Daddy date)
on which we wrote date ideas to do with each of them throughout 2013.
On the first day of each month, they each get to pull out one of their slips to find out what their date (sometime that month) will be!
For January, Corban and Abigail both picked Daddy dates.
Abigail's was a date for dinner together at Chik-fil-a (with a milkshake!) and Daddy
"picked her up" for the date with flowers (which she proudly kept on her dresser for 2 weeks!).
Ladies Man
Corban's January date was a
They set sail with other pirates on an adventure searching for treasure and battling
"Barnacle Bill" on a cruise along the intercoastal waterway.

Corban's favorite part was the
water cannons!
Chris and Corban continued their daddy/son day that afternoon by going to the
new Math Midway exhibit at the museum together.

Spring Schedule

January has put us back into a more structured and busy schedule each week!
Corban is swimming Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Abigail has ballet on Tuesday and soccer Tuesday and Saturday (next week is her last game).
Corban and Abigail are taking a Spanish class together on Wednesday.
Classical Conversations (on Thursdays, class for Corban and nursery for the girls)
and BSF (on Wednesdays, with classes for me and all the children)
have both begun again after a winter break.
Corban has continued with the curriculums we chose for him,
and Abigail is doing the My Fathers World Kindergarten curriculum
and Kumon math and mazes.
She is really enjoying the MFW activities, where each week has a letter and topic that we study.  Abigail did most of the science and art with Corban last year and is now doing the phonics/reading component.  During turtles for the letter T, the children made these cute turtles.
Hadassah very much wants to be included in whatever the big kids are doing!  She was excited to join in the painting.
I enjoy finding activities where the children can have fun learning together.
Last week, Corban's CC science sentence was on the 3 types of rock.  We did this crayon rock project to make and learn about sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rock.
