Happy Birthday Mr. President

For President's Day, we looked at president cards,
sang the president's song, and Corban did his president's puzzle
We focused on Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president,
by reading a couple books on his life and presidency, Corban made this log cabin (with pennies under the roof!), and then all the children made edible log cabins
(I helped Hadassah with hers!).

Swim Meet

Corban swam in his first swim meet!
He was hesitant about competing, but agreed to try the Valentine Sizzler meet for 8 and under.  Corban swam 4 events (25 meters each butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) and he did super! He was the heat winner in his butterfly and breaststroke races and came home with his first two ribbons!  He had a great time with his team and can't wait for his next meet!

heat winner in his first race!

snacks with other swimmers from the Hammerhead Swim Team!

More Celebration

Before driving home, we had a delicious lunch at Capital Grille--they had decorated the table with birthday confetti and card and then brought cheesecake with a candle for dessert!
 cup of Cuban coffee
My birthday week of celebration continued Tuesday evening, when Chris and I went to see the musical Wicked!

Free Falling

The next morning, we left the hotel early and drove to a small airport.  Chris reminded me of the time we went on a hot air balloon ride just after we got engaged, so I thought that was what we were doing...until I saw a sign for Miami Skydiving Center
ready to go!
My instructor, Chris, could tell I was nervous and said that he would jump with me (he was the most experienced with over 10,000 jumps!).  He asked in what order I wanted to go and I said first! There was one single jumper that went before us, and then we led the 4 tandem jumps.
Chris said his scariest moment was watching me disappear out of the plane!  Chris with his instructor Anthony (the horse!), they did a flip out of the plane!
we jumped out of the plane at 12,000 feet
and free fall for 7,000 feet at 120 mph (in about 40 seconds)!
Then parachute down 5,000 feet for about 7 minutes.
walking on clouds and spinning in circles with the parachute!
we all landed safely, in a bean field!
