17th Anniversary

We celebrated our Family Birthday!

We all went on a private riverboat gondola ride (through the canals of Fort Lauderdale) and had a great dinner on the boat set up for us by the restaurant that the boat is docked next to.  We saw some of the area the children did sailing camp at and they had fun pointing things out.
On our anniversary, we dropped Abigail off at dance and then went to Trump National Doral (where we stayed for our honeymoon!) for a couples massage and then relaxing at the spa!

They surprised us with champagne after our massage!

That evening we went our for a delicious dinner together!

July dates

Corban and Mommy went to the Frost Museum to see the new Sherlock Holmes exhibit, had lunch at the museum and then went to the Miami Beach library together!

Abigail's date with Mommy this month was all our driving time together to/from Miami Beach for her Summer Intensive at MCB!  We also had a few picnic lunches together - meeting for Abigail's lunch break to eat together in the park!
Hadassah and Daddy had a breakfast date to Panera and then went to a car wash!

Asher and Daddy went to Home Depot for a building project date and made a constellation viewer!

Blacksmithing Camp

As a birthday gift from Grandmother and Grandpa, Corban went to a week of Advanced Blacksmithing Camp at the Guild! For his project, Corban chose a rose and went from raw materials to a beautiful, finished piece.
He plasma cut sheet metal to form 2 flowers and a calyx, then textured, flattened, and pierced.  For the leaves, he cut a steal bar into 6 pieces and hammered them into a leaf with tapered end.  The stem was made from a metal rod, which Corban hammered out to make longer and textured, and flattened 2 sections for leaves to be attached.
Corban etched the leaves and polished all pieces.
Welding the leaves to one another and then to the main stem.
Forming and folding the rose petals.
Finally, he burnished the petals with brass and wax to seal from rust
(and this darkened the piece).
