As a birthday gift from Grandmother and Grandpa, Corban went to a week of Advanced Blacksmithing Camp at the Guild! For his project, Corban chose a rose and went from raw materials to a beautiful, finished piece.
He plasma cut sheet metal to form 2 flowers and a calyx, then textured, flattened, and pierced. For the leaves, he cut a steal bar into 6 pieces and hammered them into a leaf with tapered end. The stem was made from a metal rod, which Corban hammered out to make longer and textured, and flattened 2 sections for leaves to be attached.

Corban etched the leaves and polished all pieces.
Welding the leaves to one another and then to the main stem.
Forming and folding the rose petals.
Finally, he burnished the petals with brass and wax to seal from rust
(and this darkened the piece).
