Antarctica

This week was our last week of school for the year!
Corban finished his journey around the world with his
My Fathers World: Exploring Countries and Cultures curriculum with a week on Antarctica.

Corban and Abigail made watercolor salt snowflakes
and Corban designed a flag for Antarctica
Corban read several books about penguins and as a family we read Mr. Poppers Penguins
The children watched March of the Penguins and ate ice cream!
Corban told me that he could not find anything on foods from Antarctica (because there is no permanent population) but that in the Arctic they eat peanut butter and chocolate for energy, so that's what we ate as a snack one afternoon!

ECC has been a great curriculum--It has been fun to learn about different places, peoples, history and cultures around the world.  Corban has enjoyed learning more in depth about each country and for the science to be integrated to the biomes of that area and bible the people groups of that region.
We have studied:
Earth         United States
Mexico      Canada
Brazil        Norway
France      Germany
Kenya       India
China        Japan
Russia      Australia
Antarctica

Corban has also finished his Explode the Code 6, Pathway Reader and Workbook, and Reason for Handwriting.  He still has a some lessons in his Horizons math, which he will continue to work on during the summer.
Abigail has finished her Horizons math and Reason for Handwriting.
She will continue her MFW 1st grade as bible and reading.

May Dates

Hadassah and Daddy puzzle date

Hadassah really likes doing puzzles.
She gets out a few of the ones we have almost everyday to put together.
For their date, Daddy and Hadassah went to the store to pick out a new puzzle and then did the puzzle together!

Corban and Abigail had their dates on our Memory Master trip!
Corban and Daddy spent the day together at Legoland
Abigail and Mommy went to lunch together at Cinderella's Castle

Epcot

Friday we went to Epcot!
The Seas with Nemo

We scheduled our fast passes for the morning in the front of the park,
so that by lunch we were ready to move back to the World Showcase.
We surprised Abigail and Hadassah with a girls lunch at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall!
This is also a character meal with the Princesses and it was a nice way to relax inside with a wonderful lunch as the Princesses all came to our table and spent time with the girls.
We had a three course lunch with buffet of salads and appetizers, choice of plated lunch and assortment of desserts
Hadassah liked pointing out to each princess where "she" was at on her dress and told Cinderella she also has white gloves but left them at home!

Abigail on her "throne"

Hadassah ran here for a picture, when I told her to look at me she said, "no, I'm Sleeping Princess"

Corban had so much fun doing
Agent P's World Showcase Adventure missions!  Using a special phone, there are different missions to complete in each country and with each step there are hidden things that you control before moving onto the next clue.  It was cute and very well done, Corban and Abigail had fun solving the missions and a it was neat way to see the countries in a new way.
In Germany, while completing clues, Corban made Doofenschmirtz come out at the top of the house and the beer steins sing.
There were also coloring stations in each country with Cast Members that would write the children's names in their language with a flag of the country (in Mexico the girl drew a Mickey head in the center of the flag and Corban told her that is actually an eagle with a snake and the Mayan legend that it is based upon!)
