Working Girl

Abigail was very excited to go into work with Daddy one afternoon!
She has watched Corban go in several times, so Chris found a quiet day to have her visit for a couple hours.  I dropped her off with coloring books and a lunch, so that she and Daddy could eat together in his office.

Love Notes

Yesterday, Chris brought home a bag full of notes.
Notes that the children and I have tucked in with his lunch
or left on his desk during a visit to his office over the last 2 1/2 years!
He had saved them all!
Little notes, a word of encouragement, a verse of Scripture, an "I love you",
a silly play on words (to go with something in his lunch),
a colored picture, a traced hand...they matter.

Happy Home Fairy has lots of great lunch note printables (for any age!)

Summersational

Corban and Abigail went to Summersational
(our church's summer camp) last week and are going again this week!
Corban goes every morning and Abigail MWF, both from 8:30-12:30.
They are having so much fun with their classes, music, stories, games, snack time, playground, and LOTS of artwork!

first week's theme was "Operation Creation"
"CORMA means Corban and Mama"  :)
Corban was chosen as Camper of the Week for the 1st Grade class!
Miss Sarah and Miss Christy said
"Corban is very sweet and is very creative.  He always listens to directions.  We are so excited he was a part of our class!"
They had sent home a note to me (so I was able to be there to cheer!) but the award was a surprise for Corban!

Abigail and Miss Hailey
(Hailey is also Abigail's favorite teacher on Sunday's,
so Abigail was very excited to be in her class at camp too!)

Littlest Little

watching Baby Einstein with friends

Hadassah likes to rearrange (by tossing everything out) the children's dishes.   Abigail, tired of being asked to help clean up her sister's mess, came up with this solution to baby proofing the area!
new big girl car seat!

School's Out

We still had a few more weeks from the My Father's World curriculum to complete for the year.  The letters/phonics/reading of this curriculum has been a good review for Corban and introduction for Abigail, and the weekly unit studies have been filled with fun activities to all do together!
V is for Vegetable
we tried a new veggie (white asparagus), made kale chips,
sprouted beans, a sweet potato and carrots, and painted and stamped with vegetables.
Q is for Quail (birds).
We strung popcorn as bird food, looked at lots of bird books, and did an oil/water test to show how ducks are waterproofY is for Yellow (colors)
We mixed paints and talked about primary and secondary colors and made paper rainbows.
We had a yellow dinner!  Yellow shirts were required, yellow flowers, plates and napkins were on the table, and we ate yellow food (eggs, corn, squash, pepper, apple, pineapple, mango, banana, and lemonade). We even saw a full rainbow while eating!

we celebrated our last day by making (and eating!) this rainbow cake!
preparation was similar to these cupcakes we made before
Corban and Abigail liked mixing the colors and then decorating with rainbow sprinkles,
and the cake turned out so fun!
