Hurricane Irma

The waiting time is strange...preparations are finished, we have supplies, and we are staying home. But in the calm before the storm, we are enjoying this time.
Glowsticks at bedtime.
Lots of wind and rain and under tornado warnings. We still have power but we're sleeping in our "hurricane party room" (safe room) tonight (Saturday).

We are safe and doing well!
Lots of wind and rain, tornado and flooding warnings, and we lost power early this morning (Sunday). But our home is safe and filled with laughter.

 flooding on our street

Chris and neighbors clearing debris from drains- after they did so the flooding began to recede!

We are safe and very thankful! Yesterday (Sunday) was a long day.
We still do not have power and phone/internet has been inconsistent. No damage to our home and through our neighborhood we see several trees fallen but none on homes or major damage.  We spent the day talking to neighbors, picking up and playing outside.

breakfast on the grill
Today's (Tuesday) update- still no power. We spent the day at the library and mall/restaurant to charge electronics and enjoy A/C.
This evening, the other side of street power came back on. Ours has not- but kind neighbor brought over generator so that our fridge/freezer stay cold and we can have a couple fans on for sleeping tonight.

Today's (Wednesday) update:

We are so thankful for the kindness of many friends and neighbors!
We still don't have power...but Chris was able to book hotel today and we are enjoying the evening with A/C, hot showers, tv, internet, mini fridge and even a walk on the beach!

Thursday- the Science museum reopened and we spent the afternoon there.
Beautiful sunrises over the beach from our hotel room!

more fun on the beach!
