Corban and Mommy had a movie date this month!
The Chronicles of Narnia series,
by C.S. Lewis, has been a favorite of Corban's this year. We had read from the books to him and he had listened to some as audio books.
But over the last several months,
by C.S. Lewis, has been a favorite of Corban's this year. We had read from the books to him and he had listened to some as audio books.
But over the last several months,
he has been reading and loving them
on his own!
I surprised Corban by renting
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe video for a home movie night
It is a good movie and we had a fun night staying up late to watch!
But when I asked which he liked better, Corban said the book is better because there is more and you get to picture everything how you think it is in your mind!
We looked at books. I read princess and pony and ballerina books to her. We shared a sweet treat. And Abigail got to pick one book to keep (she chose the princess one that came with a necklace!).
The date jar has definitely been Corban and Abigail's favorite gift this year!
Each month they look forward to going on their date and picking their next one!
Chris and I have also loved the intentional and fun ways it has encouraged us
to monthly have one-on-one time with the children.
We filled the jar again for next year and this time included Hadassah!
They were so excited and we are looking forward to all the fun activities we have planned.
For next year, we chose 6 activities which are the same for all 3 children
and then 6 unique for each of them.
Again, they will each have 6 Mommy dates and 6 Daddy dates.
On the first of each month we get down the jar and they randomly (except for a few which are date specific) choose their date which will be done sometime that month.
Some dates cost money and some are free.
Some are simple and some require more planning.
Some are at home and some are out.
The point really isn't what we are doing, that is just part of the fun,
the point is spending that time one-on-one with each of them.
Listening. Laughing. Loving.
August (with the guys archery date added!)
